Lia Havlena - Anchor

Microphone placement recording, and mixing done by me. For the recording, I stacked two cardioid microphones on top of each other, one facing the vocalist, one facing the guitar. Because the microphones were a ‘lollipop’ shape, the diaphragms were very close to each other, preventing any phase cancellation from occurring and creating a stereo track that is extremely mono-compatible.

This is a multi-track recording found online. All mixing and mastering was done by me. While mixing, I attenuated a problem frequency in the snare, boosted the low frequencies in the floor tom to give it more presence, added reverb to all tracks, and compressed the vocalist, snare and organ to keep the intensity without clipping. In the mastering process, I hard cut everything below 40hz, clearing up the sound while helping raise the mid frequencies. I also used AVID’s Pro Limiter to achieve -14 LUFS.

Eddie Garrido - Uno Semana Sin Ti

This is a multi-track recording found online. All mixing and mastering was done by me. While mixing, I added reverb and a tape delay plugin, giving the song a lot of tail. I also compressed the vocals as the singer has a great dynamic range. A lot of tracks were created electronically, avoiding problem frequencies while recording. I only needed to cut the muddle in the lows of the vocals. While mastering, I cut all of the lows from 50hz down. I also achieved -14 LUFS with Avid’s Pro Limiter.
